Developed in 1999, by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) alongside ISO’s technical committee for quality management, ISO/TS 16949 is a standard specific to the automotive sector that works as a complement to ISO 9001. Today, it is one of the most widely used international standards in the automotive industry around the world.
In order to face important new challenges that have risen in the ever-changing global scenario, the IATF and ISO have agreed to discontinue their joint development of ISO/TS 16949, and the IATF is releasing a new standard: IATF 16494.
