  • Portuguese logistics giant optimizes processes and increases management efficiency with SoftExpert

    Luís Simões is one of the largest logistics companies in Portugal. It began in 1932, using carts to transport fruit and vegetables to the Lisbon and Malveira wholesale markets. Today, it has more than 25 operation centers and transports 7 million tons per year, operating in a number of European countries. To keep up with the growing demands of the cargo transportation market, the company needed to automate processes and improve management efficiency. According to Carla Leitão, Compliance Officer at Luis Simões, the company had a number of processes outside the core business, which were managed using various specific and non-integrated software solutions. They needed an agile and integrated platform, in a cloud-based, multilingual environment. Simões looked to SoftExpert to increase the company's productivity. Two years after implementation, Luis Simões now has 19 processes automated by SoftExpert Suite, which are used by over 1,900 collaborators. More than 80,000 instances have been registered in the application. Today, the company possesses a tool that provides improved knowledge and control, allowing the process structure to require less human intervention by specialized IT staff, which increases the management capacity of the people responsible for each process. “The return on investment was attained in just one year, and the SoftExpert solution is currently in an advanced and consolidated implementation phase,” says Pedro Ventura, Director of Processes and Compliance at Luis Simões.
