Petroquímica Suape
The Companhia Petroquímica de Pernambuco (Petroquímica Suape) is a project led by Petrobras Química S.A. (Petroquisa) to implement the Suape Petrochemical Complex, which brings together three integrated industrial units: one for the production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), another for the production of polyester polymers and filaments, and a third for PET packaging resin. Once fully operational, Petroquímica Suape will establish the most important integrated polyester hub in Latin America, located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex in Ipojuca, Pernambuco.
The adoption of state-of-the-art technologies, production scale comparable to the largest plants worldwide, and the integration of its industrial units are some of Petroquímica Suape’s competitive advantages. The operation of the three plants began in the second half of 2010. The Suape Petrochemical Complex is part of Petrobras’ strategic project portfolio and is included in the Federal Government’s Growth Acceleration Program (PAC).

Petroquímica Suape migrates to SoftExpert Suite and boosts solution performance
The need for change
Petroquímica Suape uses SoftExpert’s Document solution, which is part of the SoftExpert ECM platform. With the release of the new version, the company migrated to the updated system with a focus on continuously improving internal processes. According to Robson Tavares, Technical Archivist, the productivity gains delivered by SoftExpert Suite are clear, especially due to the increased processing speed for system tasks.
"The layout has also evolved compared to the previous version. The screens are now more user friendly, the icons are intuitive and standardized, and the navigation paths to reach different areas of the system have been simplified, eliminating several clicks," he notes.
The migration to SoftExpert Suite was carried out by specialized SoftExpert professionals who followed all the necessary steps to ensure a successful project.
"It was a smooth and fast process. Over a single weekend, SoftExpert completed the migration successfully and within the previously agreed timeline. We are satisfied with the process and with the improvements the system has been receiving," Tavares adds.
The results achieved
By using SoftExpert ECM with a focus on EDMS, Petroquímica Suape is now able to manage design change requests and creation workflows directly within the system thanks to integration with CAD tools. The company can define and apply standardized templates for project documents, view files in their original format, and take advantage of several other capabilities.
