Maria Luzia Costa dos Santos Women’s Hospital

The Maria Luzia Costa dos Santos Women’s Hospital, inaugurated in 2017, is part of the public emergency care network in Brazil, where all patient admissions are coordinated by the state’s central regulation system. With more than 160 beds, the hospital is a leading reference in women’s healthcare in the state of Bahia. It is managed by the Fernando Filgueiras Institute (IFF), a non-profit social organization dedicated to excellence in healthcare services, with a focus on humanized care, education and research development, and quality management.

Management across all units

One of the institution’s main challenges was standardizing document and indicator management across all units. According to Tatiana Cunha, Quality Coordinator at IFF, processes were previously carried out manually, in spreadsheets, at each of the institute’s five units. “It was difficult to establish indicators to track our strategic planning.”

The Solution

To overcome these challenges, the Women’s Hospital and all IFF units adopted SoftExpert EQM, a comprehensive software for quality management. Cunha explains that the tool was chosen mainly because it allows all management activities to be performed within a single system. Today, beyond quality management and process standardization, the software is also used by the HR department for training and competency assessments.

Standardization and Control

With SoftExpert technology, the institute standardized its processes and gained greater control over document creation and dissemination. Deployed across all five units of the Fernando Filgueiras Institute, the solution supports more than 2,500 employees. Centralized team management through task monitoring and portal use was essential during the ONA (National Accreditation Organization) audit process. ONA is a national benchmark for healthcare service quality, and IFF achieved Level 1 Accreditation through its certification.
